Our Story

I have to confess, I’ve always been DIY, way before DIY was cool. I’ve worked in construction early in my life and help remodel a dozen houses for friends and family as well as my own. I enjoy working with tools and working on vehicles. I spent a couple years early in my life as an RV tech before moving into my current career in technology. I taught myself how to weld, because I needed to make something that wasn’t available on the market. I enjoy working with my hands, building things and designing products that make the things we do more enjoyable or more efficient.

Back in 2008 I purchased my first travel trailer, a Keystone Outback 28RSDS. After doing extensive research I purchased an Equalizer brand weight distribution hitch because it had integrated sway control. Back then, they didn’t have the polymer pads for the pressure points so you had to grease those to keep the noise down. That’s when I discovered there was a problem, what do you do with those heavy, greasy bars when you are not towing.

The Outback’s only externally accessible storage was the front pass through and I really didn’t want those greasy bars in there. That’s when I built the very first prototype for the Bar Vault. That prototype followed me to my next trailer, a Heartland North Country 32ft. I started taking it for granted and didn’t realize just how functional and convenient it was, until I left it on the North Country when I bought my current trailer. Here 15 yrs later, we are still faced with the problem of what to do with the bars when you are not towing. With the encouragement of friend and family I am excited to bring you the patent pending premium solution, the ABEC Fab Bar Vault. The first of many planned products for the RV market under the ABEC Fab brand.

Sincerely,

— Alex
